An earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale was registered on Friday in the Romanian seismic zone of Vrancea, BTA reports.

The quake was registered at 6:06 a.m. 71 km east of Brasov and 138 km north of Bucharest.

During this month, 15 earthquakes with a magnitude of 2 to 3.6 were registered in the region, and the strongest for the year was on May 26 with a magnitude of 4.7.

The Vrancea region is seismically active and is known mainly for the devastating earthquake of 1977, which caused great destruction and many casualties in both Romania and Bulgaria.
