An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale was registered just before 2 pm in the northern part of the Aegean Sea south of the Mount Athos peninsula, Greek television Sky reported. The epicenter was 138 km southeast of Thessaloniki and 20 km southwest of Mount Athos.
The depth of the quake is 10 km.

According to the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center, the quake had a magnitude of 5.3 and its exact time was 13.48. Its depth according to the center is 10 km, and according to the Greek Institute of Geodynamics is 19.3 km. No damage or injuries were reported.
Social media users report that the quake was also felt in Bulgaria.
According to BAS data, within one hour after the first earthquake, secondary tremors of lower magnitude were registered.
