A magnitude 5.5 earthquake shook the northern coast of Chile, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). The quake was registered at 04:23 GMT. The epicenter is located 89 km west of the town of Valenar with a population of over 50,000 people.
The outbreak is located at a depth of 22.5 km. No casualties or damage have been reported so far.
