Partial emergency in Vratsa due to strong winds.

Hurricane winds caused serious damage in dozens of settlements in western Bulgaria. The worst situation is in Vratsa. The crisis headquarters declared a partial state of emergency. There are settlements without electricity, as well as many fallen trees in the district town.

During the past 24 hours the wind speed in Vratsa reached 160 km / h. The strong gusts have caused serious damage both in the central part of the city and in the residential districts, as well as in the settlements in the region.

The most serious problems are in the city, where there are many fallen and uprooted trees, damaged facades of buildings and commercial sites, fallen fence panels, compromised canopies at bus stops, road signs and billboards.

The roof of a sheltered home collapsed around midnight. At that time, four children and their teacher were in the building. They had to be evacuated immediately. Rescue teams continue to work. A hotline has also been announced.

In the settlements there is a partial interruption of the power supply, as the teams of the electricity distribution company are working on its restoration.

All teams of OP “BKS” are working to remove fallen trees and repair the damage. Assistance is also provided by teams from Fire Safety and Protection of the Population, the Municipality clarifies.

Employees of the local administration and the Inspectorate unit carry out inspections.
