According to the US Geophysical Institute, the earthquake was centered 3 kilometers northwest of El Tiqui in Guerrero state and at a depth of 19.8 kilometers.
The mayor of the Mexican capital, Claudia Sheinbaum, said on Twitter that there was no information on damage so far.
