A landslide closed the road Sofia – Samokov. The landslide took place shortly after midnight in the area of the Worker’s Monument.In the morning, heavy machinery clears the way. The director of the Regional Road Administration – Sofia Rumen Sachanski explained that the field work started in the light of day due to the lack of visibility at night and the danger of landslides during work.
No cars were damaged or blocked during the landslide. The cars are redirected on bypass routes through Zheleznitsa and Kovachevtsi. An on-site inspection is to be carried out by climbers.
“There is no danger of landslides. We will look for single stones that will be collapsed in order to let the traffic flow calmly “, added Sachanski.
The road is forecast to be open in the afternoon today.
