The new cases per day are about 24,500
The number of new coronavirus cases in the Netherlands has risen to record levels of around 24,500 people a day. Authorities say the Omicron option has become dominant.
The increase in the number of newly infected people compared to last week reached 60%, despite the strict lockdown of December 19. The closure reduced the number of patients in hospitals to a two-month low.
However, experts expect the reception to increase again soon due to the rapid increase in new cases.
