    New earthquake in Greece, near Krumovgrad.

    An earthquake was registered early this morning in Greece, the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences announced. The quake had a magnitude of 3.1 on the Richter scale.

    The quake struck at 4:29 a.m. The depth of the quake was 17 km. Epicenter is located 21.9 km northeast of Komotini, near Krumovgrad, about 244 km from Sofia.

    It is possible that the earthquake was felt on higher floors in the country, according to the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

    According to Akis Celendis, director of the Institute of Geodynamics, the 5.8 magnitude earthquake was the main quake, and the aftershocks were secondary. According to him, the specific fault cannot cause an earthquake with a magnitude of more than 6, but due to its small depth there will be many aftershocks and people must be careful. Kindergartens and schools in the area will remain closed for two days.
