The emergency teams of the Sofia Municipality reacted to over 120 signals for fallen branches, trees and sheets due to the strong wind. A total of 8 teams from the Emergency Aid and Prevention Directorate worked together with the fire brigade in the field at night and continue. Most of the signals were in the southern regions of the city, such as Vitosha, Pancharevo, Ovcha Kupel, and Mladost.
A huge tree fell on a tram line on Ovcha Kupel Blvd. No one was injured in the accident, and traffic was restored quickly. No damage to the track. Teams of the fire brigade and the Emergency Aid and Prevention Directorate reacted in a timely manner, explained Krassimir Dimitrov from the Sofia Municipality.
By order of Mayor Yordanka Fandakova, the companies engaged in cleaning the city should increase their teams in the field and organize the cleaning of sidewalks, roads and rainwater manholes, and the teams of “Green System” – alleys of parks and gardens in the city. The district administrations must engage the relevant units for the cleaning of the inter-block spaces in the neighborhoods.
Krassimir Dimitrov from Sofia Municipality told “Your Day” on NOVA NEWS that the actions for cleaning the affected areas in the capital continue.
“We have a lot of signals for fallen roofing sheets and unsecured objects, the fences have fallen or are on the roadway,” Dimitrov said.
Today, the yellow code for strong wind was announced again. The Municipality reminds the citizens to be careful, because the strong wind continues during the day. Owners to protect their balconies from falling objects. Construction companies to inspect the fences and scaffolding of their sites, and commercial companies – their advertising and information elements.
