A state of emergency has been declared in seven municipalities in Serbia due to heavy snowfall, Serbian state television RTS reported. These are the municipalities of Ivanitsa, Luchani, Nova Varos, Lyubov, Krupan, Arile, Baina Father. Many residents in different areas of the country and especially in the area of Lyubov, Krupan and Ivanitsa have been left without electricity.

The height of the snow cover in central Serbia reached 50 cm, and in mountainous areas it exceeded one meter. According to meteorologists, the snowfall in Serbia is a record for the country for the last few years. Trees fell under the weight of the wet snow. Traffic is difficult.
The director of the Serbian electricity company, Milorad Garchic, told a cabinet meeting attended by President Aleksandar Vucic that he was taking responsibility for power supply problems in recent days, Tanjug reported.
